The Venture Forum: Legal 101 for Entrepreneurs

Four attorneys from the Worcester-based law firm of Fletcher Tilton PC will take you through some of the basic legal issues you will face as an entrepreneur starting a company.

  • Jess Oyer will outline when and how to work with attorneys, what to look for, and what to expect in terms of common transactions, fees and more.
  • Dennis Gorman will address when to incorporate, the different kinds of business entities, and the implications of each for tax and other purposes.
  • Bobby Hazelton will give an overview of the types of Intellectual Property protections available, and how to handle IP in manufacturing, service and non-disclosure agreements.
  • Joe Bartulis will discuss Employment Law including the legal distinctions between worker classifications such as consultants, independent contractors, and employees, along with the benefits and shortcomings of each labor model.

Question cards will be accepted from the audience for a panel discussion after the presentations.
